ABOUT US
My name is Matty McClure and I am a worshipper and musician. I have been playing in worship teams for over 20 years, learning valuable lessons along the way and no doubt, will continue to learn more in the years ahead. I started out on drums but made the switch to acoustic guitar because of my desire to sing. I wouldn’t say I had any talent to boast of, but I was driven and practiced everyday. My timing was out because I didn’t use the metronome and I’ve had to unlearn those early bad habits. After 12 years of playing guitar and singing, I made the decision to study Music at a University in Sydney, Australia. This was an especially challenging season and I grew in understanding Music Theory and of course, timing. Those were game changers for me. Music has been a constant in my life for the last 20 years and I’m grateful to the Lord for it. My passion is to share my knowledge in music and guitar and to be able to inspire others to find their voice in singing and writing songs as well.
Before becoming a musician, my dream was to be a professional breakdancer. I trained tirelessly, some days all day, to compete in Germany. At 19, I gave my life to Christ, and a year later, I felt a prompting to take a break from dance to focus more on my relationship with God. During this time, I discovered worship.
Out of a love for crafting with my hands and working with wood, I started an apprenticeship as a cabinetmaker. On the same day I began this apprenticeship in June 2005, I also started learning guitar. After working as a cabinetmaker for seven years, I desired to grow more in worship and music and explore missions work. This led me to YWAM and later to the Australian Institute of Music in Sydney, Australia.
During my studies, I lost three people very close to me, which made me question life and its temporary nature. This led me back to YWAM in Byron Bay, where I met my wife and best friend, Annemarie. She has been a rock and driving force in this ministry. Annemarie is a social worker, traveller, and true worshipper. Together, we are on a mission to inspire people to think outside the box when it comes to worship and to keep worshipping in the Spirit and in truth as the main thing.
We love to travel, serve in whichever community God places us in, and inspire others to discover who Christ really is.
